Sam’s Club - Gas Station

Owner: Private Developer/Hotel Chain
Location: Waldorf, Maryland
Project Role/Responsibility: Acted as the General Contractor.

Project Scope: 12 Pump Gas Station with exterior sales kiosk. Construction effort included sub-grade fuel tank installation, storm water management containment tanks, concrete and asphalt drive lanes and commercial landscaping.
Comfort Suites Hotel

Owner: Private Developer/Hotel Chain
Location: Wixom, Michigan
Project Role/Responsibility: Acted as the lead Construction Manager.

Project Scope: 100 Suite hotel located in Wixom (outside Detroit), Michigan. Amenities include a large-scale Resort Center with interior swimming pool, restaurant, health center and several Conference Rooms.
Lucy Ellen Moten
Elementary School

Location: Washington, DC
Project Role/Responsibility: Acted as the lead project manager for the Grunley Construction and Parkinson Construction Joint
Venture team.

Project Scope: Complete modernization of 120,000 gross square feet of interior school/building space and 400,000 gross
square feet of exterior space for the existing historic Washington, DC school that houses over 600 students. Major features of the modernization consisted of a new full-service kitchen, library, gymnasium, and a complete replacement of all of the MEP systems.
Life safety upgrades were performed, and telecommunication systems now support phone, internet, public address system and video including promethean boards in all the classroom spaces. The exterior modernization effort required the replacement of all of the exterior windows and a newly built entry plaza, parking lot, basketball courts, two playgrounds and storm water management system that includes a large scale filter and retention system.
AOC Cogeneration Plant (AOC Power Plant Facility)

Location: Washington, DC
Project Role/Responsibility: Acted as the lead Construction Manager and lead Project Manager for the WGL team.

Project Scope: This project consists of utilizing a design build project delivery method for the renovation of the existing
Architect of the Capital Chiller Plant to install a new Cogeneration Plant that supplies steam and power for the US Capital Building and 22 other government buildings including the Supreme Court, House and Senate Office Buildings, and The Library of Congress, which account for 17 million square feet of real estate. Installation of critical equipment consisted of a new 7.5 MW combustion turbine generator, 100 KPPH heat recovery steam generator, Switchgear Replacement which includes five (5) – 13.8 KV incoming electrical feeders, two (2) Packaged Natural Gas Compressors. The entire construction effort took place while the AOC Power Plant’s operations were fully active.

International Monetary Fund (IMF)

Location: Washington, DC
Project Role/Responsibility: Acted as a Senior MEP project manager for the Grunley Construction Company.

Project Scope: Major systems infrastructure improvements of the existing 13-story IMF Headquarters One Building located in
Washington, D.C. Preconstruction services included constructability reviews, value engineering, site logistics planning, and other design phase services. Construction activities within the 1,400,000 square foot building included selective demolition, hazardous materials abatement, full interior-related general construction, elevator modernization/replacement for 18 elevators (4 banks for 16 passenger/2 freight), re-roofing, major structural modifications, and upgrades to the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire
protection, telecom and security systems, and a full service two floor commercial kitchen and cafeteria. The project was
constructed to obtain LEED NC Gold v3.0 certification.
The entire construction effort took place while the IMF’s operations were fully active.
Howard University Cogeneration Plant
$70 Million Project Cost

Location: Washington, DC
Project Role/Responsibility: Acted as the Owner Representatives for Howard University.

Project Scope: Complete renovation of the existing five (5) story Steam Plant to install a new Cogeneration Plant that will supply
steam and electrical power for the entire Howard University campus. This project’s critical equipment package incorporates the installation of a new 5.6 MW combustion turbine generator, a 50 KPPH heat recovery steam generator, an 82.5k SCFH max flow Packaged Natural Gas Compressor, two (2) - 50 KPPH fire tube boilers and two (2) - 25,000 Gallon Fuel Oil Underground
Storage Tanks and associated ancillary apparatus as critical equipment within the cogeneration plant.
Capitol Visitors Center - House and Senate Offices

Project Role/Responsibility: Acted as the lead MEP project manager for the Grunley Construction Company.

UESC FUNDED PROJECT – This new build/ground up project required the installation of all building mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life safety systems for over 170,000 gross square feet of office space and special use spaces, such as a large hearing rooms, large conference rooms, museums, several large and small scale television/radio recording studios, and top secret facility infrastructures.
Department of Intelligence Agency (DIA) Bethesda Campus

Owner: The Department of Defense/US Army Core of Engineers
Location: Bethesda, MD
Project Role/Responsibility: Acted as the lead Project Manager for the joint venture of Washington Gas and Honeywell team.

Project Scope: This project consists of utilizing a design build project delivery method for the energy enhancement renovations at the Erskine Hall Building, including replacement of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life safety systems for over 500,000 gross square feet of office, and special use spaces, such as a top secret security systems infrastructure.
